Past entries and winners

For several years, AHCJ's Awards for Excellence in Health Care Journalism have recognized the very best reporting on health and health care. These are stories that inform, enrage, engage and educate. Hundreds of journalists each year submit their best work to the competition, which is judged by a panel of esteemed reporters and editors. The goal of the awards is to highlight top reporting and writing, but also to create a repository of story ideas and guidelines for journalists pursuing health stories.

To that end, AHCJ members are able to search among and read all entries submitted to the contest, regardless of whether they won a prize. This includes the stories and valuable how-I-did-it questionnaires submitted by the entering reporters. You can search by keyword, by year and by contest category. You also can limit results to just winning entries.

We hope you’ll learn from how other reporters overcame obstacles, obtained important records and crafted their pieces in a way that made them resonate with their audiences.
